A Magical Moment, Captured Forever –
A wonderful local couple getting married had us update an American icon of romance, posing themselves in the famous ‘Kiss of Times Square’ , in
thier wedding outfits. Instead of Times Square however, they chose a beautiful Puerto Rican beach at sunset. Getting this all put together on a schedule, without letting the groom see the artwork (or the bride’s gown…) was an enjoyable challenge.
We first put together a sketch of the couple in the famous pose, using photographs of their bridal outfits (his Coast Guard dress whites, and her wedding gown). Then, everyone pitched in to find just the right sunset background, that would include tinges of the weddng party colors – coral, silver, and pale aqua.
We then started painting, first the two figures, then the background. It was hard to envision just how the whiteness of the uniform would look in the setting sun, so the groom, a true gentleman! kindly donned his dress whites and posed, arms around an imaginary bride, standing in the middle of a local beach, so photos could be taken.
We swapped catalog photos of the wedding dress, and photos of flowers, shoes, earrings, and other accessories to make sure our internal vision for the artwork was on the right track.
After several iterations, we had a final piece that everyone liked. We cropped the artwork into a soft oval, and created a large coral-colored border, where wedding guests could sign well wishes.
A high resolution image was sent to a specialty printer, who printed the image to hard 18×24″ laminated artboard, that was then sealed and set with hanging hooks. We gently packaged it and shipped it to the wedding site a few days before the ceremony.
This wedding portrait, hanging on a family wall, will continue to be a treasured memory of a couple’s wonderful day surrounded by friends and family!
Vintage Bi-Plane Rides.
We stood for a week or more on stepladders to paint this 8 ft x 5 ft advertising sign. We also shot a high-res photo of the painting, printed it full size on vinyl, and ‘wallpapered’ the opposite side, so we didnt have to paint it twice. Visit Nick Baker’s site at www.vintagebiplanerides.com

Mindrum Mural
Ok, so how often do you get the chance to paint 60 foot mural on the side of a building! Mindrum Manufacturing, celebrating 50 years of business in Rancho Cucamonga, requested a mural reflecting the past, present and future of the Cucamonga Valley. We created a two-part mural (below) that shows the vineyards of old Cucamonga, musician Frank Zappa’s original studio (once next door to Mindrum…) the Virginia Dare Winery building, among others, and then created a current/future view of Rancho Cucamonga, showing it’s vital role as a transportation and industrial hub, while still holding on to its rural roots. Address is 10,000 4th Street, Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
Hot Wings Cook Off, Quartz Hill
Chicken Wings of every kind get a cookin’ at the Quartz Hill WingDings Cook-Off, now an annual event in Quartz Hill, near Lancaster, CA. Their logo was intended to show off an enthusiastic but slightly wacky chicken character. We also included the landmark twin water towers of Quartz Hill, this time labeled with ‘BBQ’ and ‘RANCH’ sauce….yum!
